The Approach
The solution was based on Applaud's "rapid application development" data quality capabilities.
We began by using Applaud's data quality audit features to extract, profile and analyze data from the new system. During this process we identified many data quality issues.
Data issues were resolved by providing Applaud's data quality reports to the end-client for manual changes to the data as well as the implementation team making direct changes to the data directly in the RDBMS tables in the new system.
The effort also included vendor name and address cleansing. We worked with the client to establish rules for the identification of redundant vendor data. We then used Applaud to identify the duplicate vendors. Candidates for elimination/combination were provided to the client on spreadsheets. Several iterations of the process were developed, supporting "order from" vendor addresses as well as "remit to" vendor addresses. In addition, the match process identified vendors for the client's strategic sourcing initiative.
Applaud's name/address cleansing tools were used to fill in the missing address components (such as zip+4 codes) and CASS certify all addresses.
A process was established that enabled the client to manually review and approve all match candidates before combining the data from matched vendors.
